4th International Symposium on Development of CBRN Protection Capabilities
September 3 - September 5
Following the symposia in 2010, 2012 and 2015, the 4th Berlin CBRN Symposium will be held under the auspices of the Federal Ministry of the Interior from 3rd to 5th September 2018. Preparations for the main topics have started and the Call for Paper will be submitted to you in summer 2017.
Main topics will be:
1. Placement of worldwide CBRN challenges within the global security policy context.
2. Strengthening national and international cooperation aiming at a “network of competences”.
3. “Prevention” – in order to reduce the risk / threat of CBRN incidences – is a primary stake of CBRN protection (in line with current developments in NATO and the EU).
4. Creation of a resilient system which is not limited to the desire of utmost invulnerability, but recognizes its own vul-nerability.
“Resilience” therefore enhances crises-resistance and al-lows an effective management in case of unpreventable damage. This includes the capability and capacity needed to deal with a CBRN threat / emergency, but also the will-ingness and ability of citizens to contribute to their own protection (capability for self-help).
Thus prevention and resilience represent two sides of the same coin.
