Most of Pier 38 reopened after chemical cloud leaks from Hawaiian Ice Company


A building that was the source of a chemical leak Monday afternoon that the forced the shutdown of Pier 38 at Honolulu Harbor remained closed early Tuesday morning.

Honolulu firefighters say most of the pier has been reopened, but no one is still allowed to enter the building housing the Hawaiian Ice Company and other businesses located at 1125 North Nimitz Highway.

The initial call came in at around 5:15 p.m. Monday and prompted emergency responders to evacuate at least 100 people from the area. Continue reading.
